FISD Success Stories: Student Athletes

Matt Wixon serves as the sports information director for Frisco ISD, and prior to that, he spent 18 years at The Dallas Morning News as a sports writer and columnist. During his career as a journalist, he covered everything from youth sports to the Super Bowl, NBA Finals and NCAA football and basketball championships.

Wixon was named the Texas High School Coaches Association's Sports Writer of the Year in 2013, and In his final year at The Dallas Morning News in 2017, he was named Media Person of the Year by the Dallas chapter of the National Football Foundation. In 2019, his first novel was published -- "Fourth Down in Texas." He has three sons with his wife, Janell, who is a teacher in Frisco ISD.
