This week we will hear from Lt Col (Ret) Richard “Dick” Peasley. Dick was a Marine helicopter pilot in Viet-Nam, a Naval test pilot, at Patuxent River Air Station, Maryland, and Commanding Officer of HMX-1, better known as Marine 1. As HMX-1 Commander, he was President Ronald Reagan’s Marine 1 pilot. Following his retirement in 1986 from the Marine Corp, he was the Flight Test Director and Program Manager, on the V-22 Tilt Rotor Aircraft, known as the Osprey while employed by Bell Helicopter. Today, Dick is Director-Frisco on the North Texas Municipal Water District and is an active volunteer in the community, known for his organization of an annual charity golf tournament to honor out Frisco First Responders and Veterans.
In case you missed it
Last week we heard from Josh Dill, STS Director of Sports & Events, Visit Frisco. Josh offered some very interesting statics. The Visit Frisco team has serviced 6.4 million total visitors, who spent $1.5 billion, generated $124 million state and local taxes, and offered $1,586 tax relief per Frisco household. Frisco has some unique venues that attract many potential event opportunities. The biggest challenge is the wear and tear on the facilities, especially the natural grass turf. Frisco is known for its willingness to say “yes” to difficult opportunities.
In addition to hearing from Josh, we had the pleasure of inducting two new members, Tara Herington and Vivian York. Big welcome to both.
