Last week we heard from the three FISD students that we sent to Camp RYLA. In the past 26 years Rotarians have sent over 4000 campers and over 1000 volunteers to Camp RYLA. Our own Rene is the RYLA treasurer and was also a councilor this year. Each student talked briefly about their favourite part of camp. Comments were everything from karate lessons and breaking a board with their bare hands, the quality of the speakers, canoeing for the first time. One of the students won the camp talent contest with his electric chello. He played for us and it was amazing.
Sant and Dale presented Frisco Family services with $2475 from the DFW Indian community to sponsor the rice shelf at their food bank.
Mike Simpson has proposed that on our wedding anniversary we donate one dollar per year that we have been married to the club. My anniversary is coming up in January. Excellent program. The more money we raise in fun ways like this, the less we have to raise by selling raffle tickets or working the Farmers Market. The revenue from the market is off several thousand dollars this year so we need to replace that money for scholarships and charity somehow.
The 50/50 is on suspension.
Come out and work the Market this Saturday.
The Membership Committee will meet this week one hour before the regular meeting.
